Well-Being
Well-Being support can be provided very quickly by one of our well-being practitioners, please use one of the contact buttons below to arrange well-being support today
General Information
Well-being support offers you a chance to talk to someone 1 to 1 quickly. We have a fantastic team of well-being practitioners who can get in touch with you either over the phone or face to face, most conversations start with discussing what matters to you and what support you think will improve your mental health, we can then arrange on going support with a well-being practitioner or, if necessary, refer you into another of our services
How Can it Help?
The well-being service at Brecon and District Mind offers quick access to one of our trained practitioners to “Help me at a time that I need to enable me to manage my mental health and well-being.” With 1:1 sessions, face to face or by Zoom/Phone we can talk through “What Matters” and together establish a pathway for support through the well-being service or through other services at Brecon Mind.
Green Minds
What Is Green Minds?
Green Minds is our community eco-therapy service. In 2019 we received funding from the Powys Regional Partnership Board’s Social Value Development Fund, administered by Pavo. The funding received enabled us to begin to develop our project so that through an eco-therapy approach, and by harnessing the healing effects of nature we could help to combat the social isolation within our community, and improve the health and wellbeing of those needing support through nature-based initiatives and interventions.
Lockdown Update
The Covid-19 pandemic has of course meant that we are currently unable to deliver any of our face-to-face activities, which is why the Green Minds Team have created a website and will add more nature-based resources to provide some support and relief for those struggling in this very challenging and uncertain time. You are not alone.
As the lockdown restrictions ease the Green Minds team are venturing out again.
Twilight Sanctuary
The Twilight Sanctuary is designed to offer to support to our members experiencing distress or low mood outside of our normal office hours, however if you feel like you may be a danger to yourself or others please call 999 and ask for an ambulance
Family Support
Our Family Wellbeing Practitioners provide practical and emotional support to not only mothers but the whole family, including the extended family (i.e grandparents, aunties and uncles) wherever the need is to help those with children under 18 years old.
We discovered there was more need in mental health services in this area while we were delivering the Mum’s Matter programme. It became evident that Mum’s, and often Dad’s too, needed additional support either before, during or after the programme had finished. Mental health issues can affect the whole family but if support is accessed at the time it is needed this can reduce the impact on the whole family.
We can offer support in our centre in Brecon or a community venue, wherever feels more comfortable. This can also be tailored to your needs. This 1:1 confidential support by Lisa our Family Support Practitioner and our Wellbeing Team varies depending on what help is needed. This may be to talk and be listened to, gain relevant information, support, be signposted or to be referred to other supporting services for additional help within Brecon and District Mind or to other external services.
How Can it Help?
Family issues can be very complex at times and may need us to pull in the support and expertise of other organisations such as Calan Domestic Abuse services or the Community Mental Health Team or alternatively they may wish to be referred to other services that we offer within Brecon Mind such as Counselling or the Wellbeing service.
By supporting the family holistically at an early stage when problems arise, it is more likely that they will be able to find solutions or coping mechanisms or strategies that may reduce the impact on the children.

Active Monitoring
What is Active Monitoring?
Active Monitoring is a six-week guided self-help programme to help you understand and feel more in control of your emotions. That means we provide you with all the tips and tools you’ll need to understand yourself better, and support you through the course with regular phone calls.
In your first phone call, you and your Active Monitoring practitioner will explore if the service is right for you. Together, you’ll agree a programme of support covering any of the following topics:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Low self-esteem
- Stress
- Feeling alone
- Managing anger
- Grief and loss
Each week you’ll receive materials to help you understand and manage your feelings. These might include explanations of how and why we experience different feelings, a thought diary, or mindfulness techniques.
But you won’t have to complete these alone. Your Active Monitoring practitioner will call you each week to talk about how you’re feeling and help with any issues you have. All you need is a phone number to get started.
Sign up today, and you could feel more in control of your situation in just a few weeks.
