Sheffield Mind
- The Wellbeing Centre, 110 Sharrow Lane
Profile
Our Mission
Sheffield Mind was founded in 1978, so we’ve got over 40 years experience of in providing mental health services to people in Sheffield.
We’re a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. We’re affiliated with National Mind, but we don’t receive direct financial support from Mind.
Although we’re an independent, autonomous organisation, Sheffield Mind is one of 130+ Local Mind Associations that have agreed to support the mission and values of National Mind and strive to reflect them in its governing documents, principles and its work.
Our vision is that we won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect. We would like to see parity of care for people with mental and physical illness and to see mental health issues de-stigmatised so people are not discriminated against.
Our mission is to intervene early, improve wellbeing and provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. We work locally with a variety of partners to improve services and increase awareness and accessibility.
Equality & Diversity
Based in Sharrow but working citywide, we’re part of a diverse local community. Wherever possible, we identify opportunities to work with and learn from people from under-represented communities – in which there can be higher than average incidences of mental ill-health – and to link with local groups.
Committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in our work with service users, within the organisation (staff, volunteers and trustees), and in wider society, we’re a creative and forward-thinking organisation that builds new and exciting partnerships so we can promote greater awareness and understanding of mental health, to different sectors.
We are always looking to develop new relationships and to work on shared projects and initiatives.
Annual Health Checks
Research shows that people with severe mental health are more likely to have a preventable physical health condition, so it’s essential that people know they can have an annual health check at their GP.
