About Oldham Mind
The History of Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind
We are proud to have been delivering high-quality mental health services based on the needs of local communities for over 40 years.
A group emerged in Denton in 1978 and called themselves Tameside and Glossop Association of Mind, which became a registered charity.
In 2008 we became a well-being service and re-registered as Tameside Oldham and Glossop Mind, as well as becoming a Company Ltd by Guarantee.
In 2013 the Company articles were amended to reflect an emphasis on holistic well-being and to remove our area of benefit.
Our mission is to continue to provide the best quality local mental health services in prevention, early intervention and primary care, alongside empowering individuals and our communities to live well.
Guided Wellbeing Services
Our Guided Wellbeing Service runs from a number of GP practices in Oldham. If you are interested in accessing this service, you will need to attend a 15-minute drop-in appointment to talk about what you need and who would be the best people to offer you this support.
Our Guided Wellbeing Service
We may decide together that our guided self-help service is the best option available to you or that another service would be better suited to your needs.
If the service is suitable for you, we can work with you for a total of five sessions over a period of eight weeks. You meet with the same person each week and work on a specific issue you may be dealing with, such as depression or low mood, stress, anxiety, worry, or low confidence.
You may be asked to complete thought diaries, read up on advice, listen to guidance, engage in some exercises, or try some Mindfulness meditation.
