Supporting Minds
Over the last 15 months we have gone through the extraordinary experience of coronavirus and are only too aware of how it has affected all of our lives.
We want you to know that we are still here to support you and help you get the help you need, when you need it.
While we can’t deliver the face to face services we would normally provide, we have moved a lot of our services online and added in extra activities to support your mental health and wellbeing:
We have changed our way of working but we are still here to help
- Remote mental health support by telephone, email or digital media – according to your preference
- Wellbeing planning to help people cope with life at home during or emerging from lockdown
- Information and support to access other services you may need during this time
- Information and support to help you access help if you are in crisis

Connecting Minds
Connecting Minds provides outreach and engagement to gain a better understanding of the mental health needs of different communities and particularly those that are currently underserved by local mental health services.
Mind is working to connect people and communities to fight for mental health
- We provide advice and information to connect people with local mental health services to help them get the support they need
- We facilitate user involvement meetings across our services and the wider community to connect with our beneficiaries and stakeholders to hear about what we are getting right, what we need to change and how we can improve our services
- We connect and consult with local communities to learn more about local mental health needs, so that mental health services can be designed and developed to meet the needs of different communities and not just a one size fits all approach
- We deliver psychoeducation workshops and training on different mental health topics to help people gain knowledge about mental health conditions, recovery support and how to stay well.
- We connect with our community to provide volunteer opportunities to help people gains skills and experience in a variety of roles; for example, helping to facilitate meetings, peer to peer evaluations and surveys, supporting workshops and helping to publicize our work.
Peer Support Services

It’s not always about getting or giving advice. It’s also about having a safe space to get things off our chest and occasionally sharing a laugh about it all!
Peer support brings together people with shared experiences, and these experiences can vary. For example, you might share a diagnosis of a particular mental health problem or similar personal interests. Or you may have shared experiences, such as hearing voices, identifying as LGBTIQ+ or having a shared cultural background. (Mind 2021)
Mind Peer Support Services provide a range of opportunities for people to come together to reduce isolation, make friends and give and receive support based on the personal experience and a shared understanding of mental distress. We offer both peer-led and peer-facilitated activities which focus on recovery, strengths, hopes and ambitions.
Peer support can help you in a number of ways by:
- Help you develop skills and strategies to manage and maintain your emotional and physical wellbeing
- Feeling accepted and understood by others who share your experience
- Developing and sharing skills
- Reducing feelings of isolation
- Building confidence and emotional resilience
- Building new relationships
