Second Step Recovery College:
Second Step Recovery College & Bristol Wellbeing College delivers workshops, courses and activities to improve mental health and wellbeing. Anyone living in Bristol and using Bristol Mental Health services can attend and their carers. We also welcome patients of Inner City and East GP surgeries.

One of our learners, Ruth, has written a very helpful resource, writing for wellbeing. It contains simple writing exercises that may help you process your thoughts and feelings.
Our learners are also welcome to join our community Facebook group.
Some learners are attending our creative writing course, Poem Brut. We are exhibiting their art, Poetry Without Words, online.
You can find pre-recorded YouTube sessions on various topics, such as boosting your mood and writing for wellbeing. You can also read blogs from our learners and tutors.
All workshops, courses and activities are free of charge to people who live in Bristol and are receiving support from any of the organisations delivering Bristol Mental Health services, as well as to their carers. We also welcome patients of Inner City and East locality GP surgeries.

Bristol Wellbeing College Guidelines:
These guidelines aim to provide learners with clarity on what to expect from Bristol Wellbeing College in relation to behaviour, health and safety and equality and diversity.
We cannot accept walk-ins for our classroom sessions, e.g. people turning up to sessions on the day. If you turn up on the day and your name isn’t on the register, you may be asked to attend on another mutually agreed date.
A safe online learning environment
Guidelines and learning agreement
All Bristol Wellbeing College live sessions are designed to provide learning that will equip individuals to manage their mental health and wellbeing better. To create a safe and supportive online learning environment, we ask all learners to adhere to the following ground rules.
Safe Disclosure:
Please only disclose information with which you feel comfortable. While we encourage peer discussion and participation, please be aware that this is not group or one-to-one therapy. Please do not disclose personal histories that might trigger you or others. This is for your own wellbeing and that of other learners in the live sessions.
Confidentiality:
All information disclosed by participants in our sessions is confidential. Please do not discuss anyone else’s personal information outside the group. If you choose to have your camera on we would be grateful if you would please dress appropriately. Where possible, please find a private space in your home and where possible use headphones when joining the sessions, in respect of the privacy of other attendees. Recording live sessions is not permitted. The tutor will have overall control of the meeting.

Please treat your fellow learners, volunteers and tutors with respect. Creating a safe online learning space means being considerate in how we communicate and act: listening to each other, being non-judgemental, and using language that is inoffensive. We welcome all learners, however, anyone demonstrating abusive, offensive or disruptive behaviour will be asked to leave and will be excluded from the Zoom meeting until further notice.
